Farthings Horsham is a busy small animal practice with a team of vets and nurses dedicated to providing the highest possible level of care and treatment for our patients, and delivering a high quality, caring and value for money service for our clients.
This is something that we continuously strive to maintain as the most important part of the practice is its clients and their pets.
"Always very friendly and kind. Nothing is too much trouble."
"Consistently brilliant care."
"Friendly staff and excellent vets. All give great confidence in stressful situations."
Are just a few of the comments we receive from our clients and it is wonderful boost to all staff to get such feedback, we thank you for it.
In addition to surgery consultations we offer regular nurse clinics covering many aspects of animal care and our Puppy parties, run regularly by our nurses, are proving very popular.
We have three fully equipped operating theatres at the practice enabling routine, complex and emergency surgery to be undertaken.
When surgery is required for your pet we usually treat them as day patients and admit them first thing in the morning. On admission a "pre-med" is given which calms any anxious patients and reduces the quantity of anaesthetic required.
We use the most modern anaesthetics appropriate in each individual case to ensure a rapid recovery with minimal after effects. Most animals will return quickly to normal and should be able to go home the same day.
Operations which might be considered as routine, e.g. spaying and neutering of cats and dogs may be booked by telephone, the veterinary surgeon may sometimes ask to see the patient first if there is any concern as to the advisability of the operation.
Non-routine surgery would normally follow a consultation.
Full details of the operation together with pre and post operative care will be discussed with you at this time. We feel that it is important for you to fully understand what we propose to do, so please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
To complement theatre we also have a diagnostic imaging suite for x-rays, ultrasound and endoscopy.
For inpatient stays we have our own kennels on site to ensure animals who have to stay with us are kept in a safe, monitored and comfortable environment.
With a well stocked dispensary and food store we try to ensure you are not kept waiting for prescribed drugs and pet food orders. On those rare occasions where an item may be out of stock we can usually have this delivered to the practice within 24 hours for pick up.
Home Visits
We appreciate that It may not always possible to visit the surgery and some situations may require a home visit.
We are happy to organise these but must stress that they will attract an additional charge unless the visit is due to mobility issues.
